Paul Magahay
Paul is managing partner of the firm overseeing our day-to-day operations and making sure that clients, employees, and all other stakeholders are well served. Paul has more than 35 years of surveying and engineering experience. His prime focus is land development and leading our builder consulting team. Paul is a big proponent of common-sense solutions.

Jeff Buisman
A partner at Van Harten since 1996, Jeff is a highly experienced land surveyor, specializing in severances, including evaluating navigable streams to create natural severances. He's known for innovative solutions to complex boundary challenges, persisting to uncover the required evidence, history, and notations. Jeff is passionate about finding the best possible survey solution for every client project.

John Duffy
John has over 25 years of experience in site civil engineering with a focus on rural development. A partner at Van Harten since 2010, John is adept at using topographic survey data to create grading and servicing solutions for construction permits. He manages files from beginning to end, including estimating, client interaction, fieldwork, regulatory review, approvals, and construction.

Matt has more than a decade of experience in cadastral surveying, a critical discipline within surveying that ensures the accurate definition and documentation of property boundaries. Matt plays an important role in land development projects, municipal planning, and legal disputes, providing precise and reliable data and documentation to support decision-making.

Luke Wilcox
Luke leads our Orangeville team. With over a decade of experience in cadastral surveying, he is also experienced in topographic mapping, subdivisions, condominiums, severances, and boundary surveys. Luke and his highly skilled team handle projects in Dufferin County, Grey County, Peel Region, as well as Simcoe County.

With over 40 years in the field, Ron is known for working through complex projects that involve technical issues and disputes. He has expertise in GIS, GNSS, and Lidar and a passion for teaching others to work with these technologies. Always learning, Ron is developing tools that integrate new-generation A.I. with GIS.

Jamie Laws
Jamie has worked in surveying for more than 30 years, specializing in land development and condominiums. He and his team collaborate closely with developers, planners, lawyers, architects, and municipal staff to prepare and register condominiums and land development plans. They are devoted to delivering quality surveys that meet project timelines.

Kristine Campbell
Kristine Campbell, a civil engineer at Van Harten since 2023, has more than a decade of expertise in land development and consulting. She specializes in site plans, site servicing and grading, on-site sewage systems, and stormwater management. She is skilled at identifying issues that might hamper submissions and helping property owners better understand the application process.

Scott Gabel
Scott Gabel joined Van Harten in 2020 with over 15 years’ experience in engineering and construction, including surveying, inspection, contract administration, and drafting design. As manager of our drainage department, he oversees final grading certifications and collaborates with local municipalities and builders to help create practical solutions to on-site challenges.

Justin McDonald
Justin joined Van Harten in 2016 as a Field Technician. He soon transitioned to the engineering department and obtained his Certified Engineering Technologist designation. As part of our Orangeville staff, Justin specializes in rural residential development, the preparation of lot grading design, and on-site sewage system design.

Chris Corosky
Chris has been a professional land use planner for more than 25 years. He started as a municipal planner and eventually became vice president of a private land development company. Chris is skilled at managing interdisciplinary teams of surveyors, architects, consulting planners and engineers, environmental scientists lawyers, and contractors — all the ingredients of successful land development.

Hailey Keast
Hailey manages planning and development projects, ensuring that our clients are kept informed and their projects run smoothly. Her work includes severances, zone changes, minor variances, site plan and environmental compliance approval applications. She also confers with municipalities and attends committee and council meetings on behalf of our clients.

Ben Putt
Ben started at Van Harten in 2009, working part-time as a student through his undergraduate degrees before joining full-time in 2016. Articling to be an Ontario Land Surveyor, he researches titles, processes field work, calculates boundaries, and checks survey plans. He has a strong interest in cadastral surveying and a knack for solving problems involving historical title and boundary issues.

Joel is articling at Van Harten to become a Ontario Land Surveyor. With over a decade of experience, he manages various aspects of survey projects, including construction layout, site plans, reference plans, and survey calculations. His interest in technology and innovation helps keep our people on the cutting edge of industry developments.

Payton Chase
Payton has a background in geomatics engineering, trained in spatial analysis, GIS remote sensing, and precision surveying. A strong researcher and time-management devotee, he helps us stay on top of industry best practices, clears roadblocks, and works out complex client problems. Payton is pursuing both an Ontario land surveying license and a professional engineering designation.

Sharnid is an articling Ontario Land Surveyor with a passion for precision in cadastral surveying. She merges theoretical knowledge with hands-on skills to deliver accurate and compliant surveys. Sharnid is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

Tracy Lesperance
With Van Harten for more than 30 years, Tracy provides lot development plans for new construction. She also manages part-lot control and minor variance applications. Tracy has a deep knowledge of the zoning regulations of all the municipalities in our service area and is skilled at collaborating with clients to find solutions when issues arise.

Everett Lusk
Everett has more than 40 years experience in the survey industry. He works with clients to determine their requirements and initiate the service request, including preliminary file preparation and estimating. He is also our lead on Minimum Distance Separation (MDS) reports that are increasingly mandatory in severance applications and new housing construction.

Will Verwey
Will joined Van Harten in 1990 as an instrument man on a legal survey crew. Three decades later, he is our senior lot grading design specialist. He oversees the set up for layout for residential homes, and is an integral part of our quality control system. Known for his problem-solving abilities and knowledge of the construction process, Will is a trusted advisor to our builder clients.

Jared Pulleybank
Jared has over 20 years of experience at both the Guelph and Orangeville offices. He's been involved in most parts of the business: lot grading design, site plan review, boundary retracements, topographic surveys, construction layout, and managing the new home construction survey crews. He is a survey industry policy wonk and our de facto in-house IT tech.

Sydney excels in talent acquisition and performance management. After joining Van Harten while completing the Human Resources Management program at McMaster University, she has significantly improved our employee experience and workplace culture. She advocates on behalf of our people and, by helping create a great workplace culture, helps us attract and retain top talent.

Samantha helps manage operations at the Guelph office and oversees our Orangeville and Waterloo locations. Her job includes communications consistency, policy and procedure development and implementation, materials management, and making sure that we are delivering our work on schedule.

With Van Harten since 2012, Terri has over 25 years experience in business administration and accounting. She provides exceptional support to our staff and clients, working closely with all our partners to ensure they have accurate financial information for decision-making.

Erica helps facilitate our condominium development projects, working with our clients and their lawyers to ensure that their projects are progressing as expected. She also coordinates documentation with municipalities and Land Registry Office staff.
